The_Rocket_4.jpgCurious Film’s latest film for Australian release, The Rocket, has been selected for Official Competition in the Sydney Film Festival, held from June 5 to June 16, 2013.

The Rocket is one of 12 films vying for the prestigious winning title in this spirited category. Winner of the Best First Feature award at the Berlinale, along with Best Narrative Feature and the popular festival accolade Audience Award at the TriBeca Festival, The Rocket is a coming-of-age tale of a young boy set entirely in Laos.

Directed by Australian Kim Mordaunt, the film stars lead actor 10-year-old Sitthiphon Disamoe, who also recently walked away with Best Actor Award at TriBeca. He plays the role of Ahlo, a surviving twin of a difficult birth who is believed by some to be a source of bad luck.

Says Peter Grasse, Curious executive producer: “The Rocket’s selection for competition in this year’s Sydney Film Festival is another great achievement that highlights the film’s long running success both here in Australia and further abroad.”

As well as being the film’s distributor, Curious completed all post production on the film.

Says Sarah Noonan, Curious: “We are very proud to be the distributor of The Rocket in Australia and New Zealand. Curious is also very proud to have been chosen to supply post-production work on the film, which was a complex and rewarding creative challenge.”

The Rocket is set to be released by Curious Distribution in cinemas nationally later this year.
