Yooralla poster .jpg‘Priest without borders’, Father Bob Maguire, is the face of YoorallaTEE, a t-shirt design contest aimed at raising funds for Yooralla, one of Australia’s largest disability support organisations, and the Father Bob Maguire Foundation.

Entry deadline for the contest is Friday 24th May 2013.

Artists and designers can win a share of $7,000 in cash and prizes.

The top 10 t-shirt designs will appear on Dangerfield tees and be sold nationwide through Dangerfield stores and online from July 1, 2013.

Proceeds from each sale will go to Yooralla and the Father Bob Maguire Foundation.

Entrants have to work to the theme ‘Beyond the Disability’ and have a focus on positive images of disability.

YoorallaTEE brings together Yooralla, street-wear retailer Dangerfield, the Father Bob Maguire Foundation, 99designs and Arts Triangle, a not-for-profit focusing on funding Urban Art through grants.

Father.jpgAlthough the 78 year-old priest is not a wearer of t-shirts, he agreed to wear one for his promotional video.

Says Father Bob: “There’s a lot to be said by what you wear on your t-shirt. There are plenty of things I’d like to say that would get me in hot water, so I’m happy to let others design to the theme, ‘Beyond the Disability’.

“I’m passionate about this cause because it advocates that we see beyond a person’s disability. If the way to change attitudes is via a t-shirt, then all power to you.”
