shot 18.jpgPhotoplay Films has announced the premiere of its new two-part series The A-Z of Contemporary Art will air tonight at 10pm EST on ABC1. It’s contemporary art but not as you know it, with a little humour and cynicism thrown in for good measure.

The A-Z of Contemporary Art is a two-part series designed to answer all those baffling questions about art that people have been scratching their heads over. It offers a quick, lighthearted alternative to the dour educational documentaries of years past, and transforms you from art novice to art insider.

Full of pastiche and reference with eye-popping candy-coloured graphics, it turns the art theory lecture theatre experience on its head. And it also functions as a concise Encyclopaedia of contemporary art and theories featuring the work of Australian and International artists.

Directed by Photoplay’s Scott Otto Anderson and written and presented by art critic Andrew Frost, The A-Z is in essence a bluffers guide that leaves you in much better stead to survive that next art gallery opening.
