CAC.jpgCB Exclusive: Design agency Toby & Pete and digital agency Reactive have joined forces to enter the Converse competition ‘Hack A Chuck’, to be exhibited at the Cannes Festival next week.

Asked to use the classic Converse Chucks as their creative canvas, they produced the world’s first Google+ Shootout at the Die Hard indoor paintball range in Sydney.

Chuck_A_Chuck_Flyer_Submission.jpgConverse fans joined a Google Hangout and directed Chuck, the Most Dangerous Man on the Internet, by picking a paint gun and an action move for him.

Says Tim Buesing, Reactive’s creative director: “We wanted to literally Chuck the Chucks. And what we got was a bit like ‘Delta Force’ meets ‘Subservient Chicken’.”

Says Toby & Pete co-founder Toby Pike: “We love experimenting with emerging technologies and new forms of creative expression. This was a hilarious opportunity to push what a Google Hangout could be used for.

The shoes and video will become part of a joint Converse and Google+ exhibition at Cannes next week, with the presiding judges including Converse’s chief marketing officer Geoff Cottrill and Google Creative Labs managing director Ben Malbon. After Cannes, all entries will be shown to Converse’s 37 million followers across Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to determine the “Fans’ Choice” winner.
