Westpac welder gets cut through with business owners in new campaign via DDB New Zealand
This week, New Zealand viewers were introduced to Wayne the welder who is typical of thousands of Kiwi small business owners who, like Wayne, ‘think’ owning their own business gives them freedom.
DDB’s humorous take on Wayne’s lack of work/life balance is sure to deliver cut through for Westpac.
Says Michael Healy, Westpac’s portfolio director of brand and marketing: “One of the long standing truths of owning your own small business is that half the time it feels like the business owns you. While Westpac can’t help you with another weekend at the beach, we can help you make your business banking a bit easier.”
Says Andy Fackrell, executive creative director from DDB: “Wayne has already garnered a huge following in just one week quite simply because his plight resonates with so many of us who long for a better work/life balance.”
‘Welder’ is the third but not final spot in the ‘Start Asking’ series following ‘Hand outs’, ‘Start Asking’, ‘Old Flatties’ and ‘Balance Transfer’, upholding Westpac’s refreshing approach to the banking category.
