CB Exclusive – Hyundai Australia has launched its latest campaign for the extremely safe i40 with a TVC created by Innocean Australia and Curious Films.
The launch TVC, which goes to air today, was created with a combination of in-camera performances and CGI, and depicts bad drivers as variety of different animals, then concludes with the tagline “Hyundai i40. Because they’re out there”.
The advertising leverages the insight that it’s other road users you need protection from – that’s why you need a seriously safe car, like the Hyundai i40.

Oh let it begin…please let it begin.
The spot is grandly entertaining….It’s raw, it’s gritty.., love the feel. The truck scene is amazing, Do wiish was there more of the other’s animals. Music is tacky. Much better than the typical car ad. Well done.
Wow, overheard one of the creatives boasting about this one.
The insight is right. There’s plenty of of monkeys on the roads.
@kk
I seriously doubt it. You are just trying to burn someone.
Everyone involved knows this ad was written by the client.
The insight was better than the execution. The animals metaphor wasn’t bad but I guess they couldn’t depict arseholes or wankers
Idea ain’t that bad, just poorly bought to life, the godawful music doesn’t help either.
Shocking ad. Terrible execution. Boring edit. Tacky music.
No doubt written by the clients.
What about the dickheads?
@Animal Farm, AGREED. It’ll be a great day when a majority of commercials are from overseas.
Australia does product and price really well and they should stick to it, it’s what the consumer wants.
Fucking woeful. Terribly directed.
Can’t blame the clients for all this mess. Screams of inexperience.
I agree with Yay. Ok idea, the performances let it down. Both actors and animals.
Way too much ham and cheese with the performances
There are indeed animals on the road, but why exactly should I buy this Hyundai over any other car?
I really enjoyed this one, entertaining to watch, terrifically spirited, A mixture of cool action, fluent directing and great performances. but music is not great.
Where’s the Road Hog?
Don’t do drugs. They harm your ability to make clear and concise judgements.
The music is “tacky” because they have re-produced the track “The Lost Art of Keeping a Secret” by Queens of the Stone Age, and, as is quite common in tacky advertising bits, instead of using the actual track, which is pretty great, they make a version of it themselves JUST different enough so as to avoid copyright infringement, and also not having to use the actual track and, you know, PAY the artist who created it.
If you want things to look good, you pay for it. Why should it be any different for the sound of your campaign? Respect musicians, songwriters, and producers. Jerks.
annnnnd they changed the music.
Does anyone know why the ‘version’ of Queens of the Stone Age music has been changed and recut to something really, really bad?
