coca cola.jpgCoca-Cola in the UK has launched ‘Grandpa’, a new spot highlighting the lifestyle enjoyed by our grandparents — moving more, eating well, taking it easy — can be beneficial.

The Grandpa spot was created by David The Agency, Buenos Aires and uses a nostalgic ‘then and now’ split screen to deliver the story line.  The spot has already sparked debate amongst health advocates and marketing commentators who are questioning the validity of the spots ‘Coke based diet’ theme. The classic ‘It’s Not Unusual’ by Tom Jones accompanies the visuals.

Says Coca-Cola’s official press: “The new Coca-Cola advert ‘Grandpa’ shows that the lifestyle enjoyed by our grandparents — moving more, eating well, taking it easy — can be beneficial. We’re committed to using our advertising to raise awareness of the importance of energy balance and helping people to make informed choices. We believe it is just one of the ways we can help make more people aware of the need for a balanced diet and active, healthy lifestyle.”
