_BP_2278.jpgHit Australian family comedy, A Moody Christmas is headed for a remake at Fox in the US after competitive bidding from all the major US studios and all the major broadcast networks.

The creator of Entourage Doug Ellin and the original creators of the Australian version, Jungleboys’ Trent O’Donnell and Phil Lloyd have signed on as show runners. O’Donnell and Lloyd will develop and write the pilot and will produce with Ellin for CBS Studios. Executive Producers are Eric and Kim Tannenbaum from the Tannenbaum company together with Lloyd, O’Donnell and Jason Burrows, MD of Jungleboys. O’Donnell will direct.

Says Burrows: “It’s an incredible result after a long bidding process and should provide a great base for us to produce both TV and commercials in the US.”

The US version will feature many of the same characters and is the story of a dysfunctional family who lives, works and plays together, as seen through the eyes of the youngest son who thought he’d escaped them, only to find himself trapped there once more. O’Donnell and Lloyd were the creators of comedy Review with Myles Barlow, which has been retooled as Review with Forrest MacNeal at Comedy Central with Andrew Daly.

Jungleboys’ Scott Pickett and O’Donnell will each direct episodes of the follow up Australian series, simply called The Moodys, which starts shooting next week in Sydney. O’Donnell will make his US directorial debut after The Moodys wrap on the Zooey Deschanel’s comedy, The New Girl, also for Fox in the US.
