NAB and the AFL extend the ‘Footify Australia’ campaign and launch FootifyFM in multiple languages via Clemenger BBDO Melbourne
As part of their campaign to further Footify Australia, Clemenger BBDO Melbourne and NAB have created FootifyFM.
A first in Australian sport, FootifyFM is an online live stream that will allow people around the world to listen to live commentary of the 2013 Toyota AFL Grand Final in a multitude of languages[LT1] . including German, Greek, Croatian, Spanish, Punjabi and Mandarin.
Over the past few weeks, NAB has had been searching for potential broadcasters – candidates needed to be fluent in another language and demonstrate a real love for the game. After receiving hundreds of applications, the final 20 have been selected and are getting match-fit through intensive training with legendary AFL commentators Bruce McAvaney and Hamish McLachlan.
A series of TVCs will launch tonight and follow the commentators’ training right up until Grand Final day. Fans can tune in to FootifyFM on Grand Final Day by visiting The 2013 Toyota AFL Grand Final will be broadcast at footifyfm.com and selecting their chosen language.

Wow. The NAB really does have a lot of money to spend on pointless things.
Why?
Such a nice idea. Should have been done years ago.
they sponsor footy.
footy fans find it funny.
it’s a nice idea.
Um ..i don’t find it funny.
Not at all.
Funny? Is this meant to be funny?
Do you have no visual perception? Of course it is meant to be humourous, only, it’s not…
I don’t find it particularly funny, but I know that listening to it in German will certainly improve my German listening skills. I’m glad they’re doing it.
Pointless? Why? Waist of Money? WTF are you people seriously Marketing professionals? 70, 000 Greek Speakers, who a quarter probably bank with NAB, mortgaged with NAB, and have never had a chance, in 40 years of Greek Factory migration to Australia, to hear the game in the language they were born into.
And it’s not a joke. Peter Kalliakoudis and Voula Dendrinos, the Greek commentators have had immense public interest (and yes Greek speakers are Australian public), in both Australia and Overseas. I can only imaging the interest in the other languages.
The insensitivity in your comments verge on racism.
