Special K set to launch Australia’s first shop powered by ‘social’ currency in Sydney

image012.jpgSpecial K this week opens Australia’s first ever shop where you don’t pay, you post! No cash or cards, only social currency is accepted at the Special K Post Office, open from 14 – 17 August.

Open for four days at Westfield Sydney, a simple social media post via Facebook, Twitter or Instagram will get social-media savvy shoppers the first taste of Special K’s brand new savoury snack – Special K Cracker Crisps.

The Special K Post Office will be open from 12- 4pm each day, just in time for when the afternoon savoury snack craving hits. Hungry shoppers will be able to choose from two tasty flavours, Sour Cream & Chives, or Honey Barbecue, but they can keep their purse in their handbag – instead, letting their social media take the credit.

Says Nik Scotcher, marketing manager, Snacks at Kellogg’s: “The Special K Post Office is Australia’s first shop where you don’t pay, you post – it’s where you can come in and take away a crunchy, new savoury snack simply by posting a picture, comment or checking-in on social media.

“We wanted to give people something in return for the things they do naturally on social media already – and give them a snack option which means they can say yes to that afternoon savoury chip craving and still stay on track as part of their healthy eating plan.”

The deliciously crunchy Cracker Crisps are Special K’s first foray into the savoury snack category in Australia, having successfully launched in the US and Canada.
