Ubisoft launches 3D character creator tool for fans in new interactive work via Drifter + Heckler
Global games giant Ubisoft has partnered with new content studio Drifter to build a 3D character creator tool for its fans.
Drifter worked closely with partner Heckler to deliver an array of 3D character options to play with. The tool has been built in Unity and allows the user to customise a range of armour, weaponry and a few other fun accessories.
The resulting character can then be shared across social media platforms, and can be used as a Facebook profile picture. Every character created is also eligible to go into the competition draw for the chance to win a 3D printed version of their character.
Says Owen Hughes, Ubisoft digital marketing manager: “For years we have looked to provide the most exciting game characters in the world, across our Ubisoft titles. This project allowed us the opportunity to go back to out passionate fans and give them the opportunity to do the same.”
Says Josh Hunt, Drifter creative director: “This was a really exciting opportunity to involve the Ubisoft fan base in something that was both visually and interactively rich. Gaming fans love the individual titles that Ubisoft develops but we wanted to take these fans one step closer to the brand that delivers them.
Says Mike Watson, head of 3D at Heckler: “We continue to see the convergence of high end 3D and VFX coming together in the interactive space. This was another great example and a project the team loved working on.”
The 3D character creator website will be launched on the Ubisoft Australia Facebook page and the competition will run for six months.
