Wasabi’s ‘Gorilla Band’ #1 in Aussie app store

Gorilla Band.jpg‘Gorilla Band’, by former Foster Nunn Loveder creative director Graham Nunn, has reached the number one ranked spot in the Australian App Store’s ‘Paid iPad Books’ category with a day of its release.

The storybook app, which went on sale last Thursday, also made it to the number one spot for paid iPhone book apps and was featured in 153 App Stores around the world immediately after launch.

Says Nunn: “We’re off to a good start, but it’s easy to disappear on the App Store, so continued downloads over the next few days are critical in order to maintain visibility.”

Nunn’s publishing company Wasabi, has ambitious plans for the band with a follow up book already in production.

Says Nunn: “We developed Gorilla Band on the Unity platform, because it allows for a bank of reusable assets to be created, and that allows for more agile development and easier creation of follow up titles.”

numone.jpgSpeed to market is a key advantage in this rapidly expanding industry, but traditional development cycles for high quality content (2-6 months) make it challenging to reach a still-warm audience with a follow up release.

Unity is also a cross-publishing platform, so Gorilla Band is available on Google Play for android devices as well as the App Store for iOs. A Kindle version is coming soon.

Wasabi is developing Gorilla Band 2 with animation and Unity designers James and Kim Neale of Character Mill, music composer Hylton Mowday of Jam and programming partners Well Placed Cactus.
