Created and written by Jungleboys’ Trent O’Donnell and Phil Lloyd, the multi AFI Award-winning team behind the critically acclaimed comedy series Review with Myles Barlow, and directed by Trent O’Donnell and Scott Pickett, also from the Jungleboys team, it will be filmed at various locations across Sydney.

The Moodys reunites the cast from A Moody Christmas including Ian Meadows (Paper Giants: The Birth of Cleo), Patrick Brammall (Hawke), Jane Harber (Offspring), Danny Adcock (Jesters), Tina Bursill (Offspring), Guy Edmonds (Underbelly: Razor), Darren Gilshenan (Chandon Pictures), Rachel Gordon (Blue Heelers), and creator/writer Phil Lloyd (At Home With Julia), and introduces new cast members Sacha Horler (Offspring, Crownies), Ryan Corr (Packed to the Rafters, Not Suitable for Children), and Jonny Pasvolsky (Home and Away, Underbelly).

In the new series Dan (Ian Meadows) and Cora (Jane Harber) return home to Australia to set up house together. Now they are back Down Under, everything in their lives is topsy turvy. As they struggle to make ends meet, the Moody family home is up for sale; Sean’s (Patrick Brammall) funeral fireworks business is going great guns – literally; Maree (Tina Bursill) and Kevin (Danny Adcock) test the freewheeling lifestyle of the grey nomads; Bridget (Rachel Gordon) and Roger (Phil Lloyd) find out if there’s friendship after divorce; and Uncle Terry (Darren Gilshenan) is in a tangled love affair with Yvonne (Sacha Horler), a one-woman force of nature.

Says Chloe Rickard, Jungleboys series producer: “This series sees an expansion of the Moody’s world beyond the Christmas theme, providing many more relatable and typically Australian interactions which are rich fodder for comedy.”

Says Carole Sklan, ABC TV head of fiction: “We’re very excited that this series will see the Moodys escape the family home and embrace the wider world. Look out world!”

The success of A Moody Christmas continues in the United States, with the Fox Network recently winning a bid to have O’Donnell and Lloyd write a pilot for a US version of the series, based on the same characters.

The Moodys is a Jungleboys production in association with ABC TV and Screen NSW and will air on ABC1 in 2014.
