Olympic champion Sally Pearson World Record Attempt (3).jpgHoliday Inn via Ogilvy & Mather Sydney, has launched its new brand campaign, proving it knows that the little things are big to their guests.

The hotel brand hosted a Big Breakfast for Sydneysiders, transforming Sydney’s Customs House Forecourt with a giant six-metre boiled egg and kid’s playground complete with building blocks, face painting, colouring-in stations and free breakfast.

Olympic champion Sally Pearson World Record Attempt (3).jpgThe event also included a race track where 2012 100 metre hurdle Olympic champion Sally Pearson broke the world record for the fastest 100 metre egg and spoon race in just 16.59 seconds.  An official Guinness World Records Adjudicator was on-hand to witness Pearson’s record, beating the now former 19.39 second record held by an American. To help add to the celebrations, Holiday Inn donated $10,000 to her charities of choice, Queensland’s Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and Golden Retriever Rescue.

Says Pearson: “It was a lot of fun to be involved in Holiday Inn hotels’ Big Breakfast event today.  The donation to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, another kids and family favourite, will help make a big difference to the great work they do. Today’s breakfast has been a fun celebration to kick start the school holidays, and it looks like the kids had a great time.”

The new brand campaign is aimed at driving consideration and preference for Holiday Inn by increasing positive awareness for the brand and its offering.  Australia is a major source market for the brand, and the campaign will specifically target leisure travellers with a focus on families.

Olympic champion Sally Pearson at Holiday Inn Big Breakfast.jpgThe campaign message, “we know the little things are big to you”, is delivered by playing with scale in imagery of every-day Holiday Inn features that are important to their guests.  The campaign creative will be delivered through a range of online and print media, and is integrated with social media and public relations, as evidenced by today’s event.

Says Steven Greenwood, operations director, InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG): “At Holiday Inn, we know the little things are big to our guests.  To illustrate this to Sydneysiders we created the ‘Big Breakfast’ giving kids the opportunity to participate in a range of fun activities and enjoy a free breakfast on the first day of the NSW school holidays.  At Holiday Inn hotels and resorts, kids always eat and stay for free – just one of the small things we do to make a big difference to our guests.”

The giant boiled egg, the centre piece of today’s celebrations, took four weeks to design and build.  The concept was inspired by Holiday Inn’s popular chefs, and the fact that kids always eat and stay free.  Families who have their photo taken with the giant boiled egg and share it with their social media networks could win a family holiday at Holiday Inn Resort Phuket.

Other ‘little things’ that are popular with Holiday Inn guests include a choice of firm or soft pillows and a refreshing, spacious shower experience.
