V Energy Drink improves the game of golf in new campaign and promotion via Colenso BBDO NZ

V Battle Carts 4.jpgColenso BBDO has ventured into the world of sports in its latest campaign and promotion for Frucor Beverages’ V Energy Drink with V Battle Carts.

Step 1: Remove everything boring.

Step 2: Realise there’s nothing left but golf carts.

Step 3: Give the golf carts new suspension, grunty engines and roll cages, then set them loose on a pristine golf course to chase a radio-controlled hole.

V Battle Carts 2.jpgThe carts have been given a test run in a new 60 second TV spot for V Energy before they hand the keys over to the public. Against all better judgment V drinkers will be allowed to get behind the wheel of the Battle Carts when one lucky town is treated to a day of lawn-ruining action.

Towns all over New Zealand have been competing furiously to host the day by creating events on Facebook and then promoting them to their communities showing why they wanted it the most. Over 70 different events were created, with invitations to these events numbering in the tens of thousands.

But unfortunately there can be only one winner and thanks to a V Green painted ute, 2,500 Facebook friends and the judicious use of a mankini – a team from Matamata has taken the prize.

V image.jpgSays Aaron Turk, digital creative director, Colenso BBDO: “This year we wanted to create something all lovers of V could experience – first see how awesome the carts were, then have the opportunity to get behind the wheel.”

All the action tees off on October 12th, with V drinkers travelling from wide and far to compete for the Battle Carts Trophy.

Says Cormac Van Den Hoofdakker, senior brand manager, Frucor Beverages: “We need to always be pushing the boundaries, finding new captivating ways to get consumers involved with V. Additionally this year we wanted to dial up the fun factor with a campaign that was entertaining, exciting and still uniquely V. With the help of Colenso ‘V Battle Carts’ has delivered that in spades. The response from consumers to our Facebook competition to take the V Battle Carts to their town has been incredible. We’re now excited to head to Matamata to create an amazing event.”
