Commonwealth Bank, Crown Resorts, The Daily Telegraph and Qantas will each donate 25c from the sale of every copy of Saturday’s The Daily Telegraph to The Daily Telegraph’s Bushfire Appeal. All proceeds will be given to The Salvation Army whose response teams are on the ground supporting Emergency Services personnel and evacuees.

Ten Network is the official media partner and will be donating the production and screening of promotional television advertisements in NSW.

Saturday’s edition of The Daily Telegraph will feature a 12 page liftout detailing the tragedy and devastation wrought by the NSW bushfires. The Tele’s team of reporters on the ground will report from the fire face and from the heart of the worst affected communities. Combined with the most powerful images yet seen of the fires and their aftermath from the Telegraph’s award-winning photographers, the paper will tell the stories of the courage, compassion and resilience of the people of NSW.

Says Crown Resorts chairman James Packer: “Crown Resorts encourages all Sydneysiders to get behind this important community initiative. Many people have lost everything in the bush-fires, hopefully this campaign will help them get back on their feet and let them know we are all standing with them in these difficult days.”

Says Commonwealth Bank chief executive officer Ian Narev: “On behalf of the Commonwealth Bank, I want to send our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has bravely helped during this crisis.  The unwavering support these people have shown is an inspiration to all. We are thinking about everyone affected by these devastating fires, and are working with our customers and the communities affected to help rebuild after this disaster.  The Commonwealth Bank is committed to enhancing the financial wellbeing of our communities.”

Says Qantas Group chief executive officer Alan Joyce: “As the national airline, we’re pleased to help raise much-needed funds for those impacted by these devastating fires. New South Wales is the headquarters for Qantas and this is about supporting the communities that have supported us for many years.”

Says Ten Network chief executive officer and managing director Hamish McLennan: “The bushfires are a tragedy for all of Australia. Our hearts go out to everyone who has been affected by the fires and to the remarkable people who are fighting them. Ten Network is proud and humbled to join with The Daily Telegraph, Commonwealth Bank, Crown Resorts and Qantas in doing whatever we can to help the victims and the fire fighters.”

Says News Corp Australia’s executive general manager NSW Brett Clegg: “The past few days have been some of the most challenging in recent times for New South Wales. We are all moved and inspired by the incredible stories of the spirit and resilience in the affected communities. I am delighted that we are able to come together with our corporate colleagues to support the outstanding work The Salvation Army is doing on the frontline.”
