Ferguson was most recently the Australia, New Zealand and Singapore director for global online print-on-demand company, Vistaprint. Prior to that, he headed up eCommerce for General Pants Group, Myer, and Officeworks, driving their online growth strategies.

Ferguson, an industry veteran, is an ADMA lecturer, has spoken at over 50 events, been a featured judge for several awards programs and conferences, and sat on several advisory boards.

Based in the company’s Sydney headquarters, Ferguson will be responsible for managing and executing DesignCrowd’s aggressive international expansion strategy, while also fuelling its continued growth in Australia through marketing, sales, and partnerships.

Ferguson said he was looking forward to making an impact at DesignCrowd.

Says Ferguson: “DesignCrowd has been a significant driving force in crowdsourcing both locally and abroad. It has kick-started the on-demand custom design revolution, with 2.5 million designs already uploaded, a community of nearly 150,000 designers, and over $10 million in payments. Importantly, it has helped small businesses around the world get a host of great design ideas and access to top talent, when they previously couldn’t afford a designer. At the same time, DesignCrowd is generating income for designers all around the world. I’m really excited about joining this fast growing startup, leading the marketing team, and helping to accelerate and scale the already rapid growth of DesignCrowd.”

Alec Lynch, founder and CEO of DesignCrowd.com said hiring the company’s first CMO was an important milestone for the startup.

Says Lynch: “Dan will be a tremendous asset for DesignCrowd.  He has a wealth of experience in ecommerce and online business, is a leader in the space and has a track record of driving explosive growth through online channels at other businesses.” Dan joins DesignCrowd during an exciting period.  In the last 12 months, we have doubled our business and hit $10M in design projects.  Dan has been hired to help us accelerate this growth further and scale our sales and marketing team and efforts internationally.”
