risksound.jpgPhilip Webster and the team at Risk are happily directing sounds at their new studios in Fennell Street, Port Melbourne, not far from their old address.

Equipped with the latest audio technologies, the purpose-designed premises allow Risk to offer an expanded range of services to their local and international clients: advertising agencies, advertisers, film and TV producers and theatre companies.

They’re sharing the two-storey building with Soundfirm, Australia’s largest and most highly awarded film audio post-production company.

Risk has three main audio production studios, each with advanced digital facilities laid out in a comfortable, lounge-like setting that allows producers and creatives to engage easily with the recording engineer and voice artist.

The studios are linked via the RedNet modular ethernet-networked audio system that interfaces with Pro Tools, providing pristine audio quality and the flexibility to record in multiple studios, enabling large-scale and urgent projects to be efficiently handled.

The RedNet system enables ISDN use in any of the studios, while dark fibre to the building provides super-fast connectivity for transferring files quickly and effectively worldwide.

There’s also access to Soundfirm’s additional dialogue recording (ADR) studios and edit and mix suites, with capability for 5.1 TV mixes. One of the ADR studios is big enough to record large groups.

Also available are TV grading and screening rooms with state-of-the-art equipment as well as facilities for 2D and 3D DCP creation with all the back-up services you need for your TV and cinema commercials.

If you’re keen to embrace the latest in surround sound technology, the custom-built sound mix theatre allows for mixing in Dolby Atmos (the first such facility in Australia).

Coffee and tea is always on hand and snacks and meals can be ordered from the in-studio menu. During session breaks you can relax in the café, sit in the sun on the rooftop balcony or stroll across to a choice of nearby restaurants including the Matilda Bay Brewery and Salford Lads Club.

On-site car parking is provided, although plenty of street parking is usually available.

Risk Sound’s new address is 23-31 Fennell Street, Port Melbourne, on the corner of Fennell and Bertie Streets. The phone number is +61 3 8698 4888. All details are on their website: www.risksound.com.au
