Thirsty Camel and Mick Molloy launch campaign to identify Beer O’Clock via T20 Group

beeroclock.jpgThirsty Camel bottleshops today launched a new campaign to identify exactly what time Australians consider Beer O’Clock via agency T20 Group.

Having long enjoyed raising a glass at Beer O’Clock to celebrate the end of a long hard working week, or day, the question remains: when exactly is Beer O’Clock?

To finally settle this age-old quandary, Thirsty Camel is encouraging all Aussies to head back to the polls and cast their vote in what’s being coined “The Real Australian Election” of 2013.

Beer O’Clock campaign ambassador Mick Molloy said it was a national disgrace that Australia as a nation didn’t know what time Beer O’Clock officially kicks off.

Says Mr Molloy: “As a matter of our civic duty, all Australians should vote in this important poll. Then we can all down tools, head to the nearest boozer and raise our glasses to toast Beer O’Clock together.”

The Thirsty Camel polls will be open from today until 10 November, encouraging thirsty workers to vote, have their say and go in the draw to instantly win their share of the $40,000 amber prize pool.

The concept and creative was the work of Melbourne’s T20 Group, the voting application was developed by Peazie and Southern Cross Austereo is the major media partner for the campaign.

Thirsty Camel’s marketing director Leah Grinter said the campaign was a simple premise to highlight the favourite time of day among customers.

Says Grinter: “Thirsty Camel is all about irreverence. We don’t take ourselves too seriously and we know our customers love a beer, when we were presented with the Beer O’Clock concept, we knew it was a perfect fit for the brand. Everyone has their own idea of when the ultimate Beer O’Clock time is. So we wanted to seize the opportunity to put this on the national agenda and create a discussion point between all Australians.  We look forward to announcing the official Beer O’Clock time and celebrating with a nice cold drink.”

Thirsty Camel will tally the results and announce an official Beer O’Clock time in November providing Australians with a drinking time they can finally set their watches to – whether it’s a beer, wine, soft  drink or (*cough*) water.

Australians can vote and have their say by visiting Thirsty Camel’s Facebook page.
