Australia’s XYZ Studios has announced a reciprocal representation deal with American animation house Hornet for Australia and NZ markets, whilst Hornet will represent XYZ in USA and Canada.

The highly respected New York City and Brooklyn based studio is known for its boutique, hand crafted works, and as such is a perfect fit for the organic and original storytelling style of XYZ Studios.

Through XYZ Studios Australian and NZ markets can now benefit from Hornet’s plethora of talent including mixed-media guru Peter Sluszka who’s worked with the likes of Björk, Regina Spektor, and Michel Gondry.

Hornets talent base extends to noted luminaries such as Brazillian-born Guilherme Marcondes famed for crafting the much lauded British Gas TVC’s. Other noted Hornets include Yves Geleyn known for his textured style that’s been prized by agencies such as Saatchi and Saatchi London and Team One USA. The list includes directing team of Dan & Jason whose animation credits include Toyota and Sony PlayStation.

These directors join XYZ’s already gifted roster of animation specialists, including Stephen Watkins, Celeste Potter, Mat Landour and Eran Hilleli.

Says XYZ’s founder Tim Kentley: “I have long admired the unique vision and startling detail in Hornet’s work – it’s great for XYZ to be able to represent them in Australasia, and likewise we are very humbled to be represented by Hornet in the U.S. We look forward to many mutually rewarding creative adventures with them and our agency friends alike”.

Adds Hornet’s MD Michael Feder: “I am thrilled to enter into this relationship with Tim and everyone at XYZ. I have been a fan of their work and the environment he’s created at their studio. I look forward to making great films together.”
