Aussie ‘Artvertiser’ James Brown of M A S H in Adelaide youngest global member inducted into the elite Alliance Graphique Internationale

_DNP6992[2].jpegArtvertiser James Brown (left) of M A S H in Adelaide has been inducted into the Alliance Graphique Internationale, making him the current youngest member globally.

The AGI is an elite club uniting the world’s leading graphics designers and artists in a professional club of common interest and achievement. Its members have been collectively responsible for the identity design of most of the world’s top corporations and institutions as well as for countless examples of globally known packaging, publications, illustration and posters.

It has been Brown’s work with EVO, Alpha Box & Dice wines, Happy Motel, The Adelaide Festival, interior design for Motel Mexicola and many others that has attracted over thirty awards including over sixty AGDA awards and two Pinnacle Awards, five D&AD Awards, thirteen AADC Awards, an Aria Music Award and many others.

Brown of M A S H is the world’s first Artvertiser, a term he invented describing the practice of combining art with advertising. See Appendix A for his own description of Artvertising.

M A S H was established in 2001 by Dom Roberts and Brown that now employs eight Artvertisers based in Adelaide’s CBD East End.

M A S H has a distinct style that can see seen through its work with a prolific playful underpinning.

It is this aesthetic that captured the attention of A-G-I member, Vince Frost, who made a recommendation for Brown’s membership into the group.

Brown is currently consulting in Sydney in interior design for hospitality.
