Curious Film’s Sam Kristofski directs new spot for Wellington-based craft beer label ParrotDog
Sam Kristofski’s recent commercial entitled ‘New Human’ for Wellington-based craft beer label, ParrotDog, is patently nice.
The 30-second spot documents the anthropological discovery of a recently developed hominid. Naked and hiding in the bushes searching for berries, the new anthropoid is introduced to a new beer.
It’s a play on the word “nice” used in absurd social contexts that Kristofski says gives way to the commercial’s simple, yet randomly amusing observational tone. It aims to reflect the laconic characteristics of the brand and the founders behind it.
“The commercial was made with ParrotDog’s simplistic and clean branding in mind,” he said.
“I wanted to portray the brewer’s core value in creating ‘nice’ beer, and at the same time, reflect its progressive brand image and ongoing alternative methods of appealing to its desired customers.”
