Energy Safe Victoria puts on an explosive barbecue in a new campaign via redhanded

redhandedtvc.jpgEvery year gas leaks from barbecues cause explosions and serious injuries. To help address this, Energy Safe Victoria has launched a new campaign that takes a lighthearted approach to this safety message via Melbourne agency redhanded.

The campaign begins in cinemas on Thursday 7 November in time for the summer barbecue season.

Set in a backyard barbecue with one crucial difference: guests have to take rather extreme precautions in order to stay safe around a barbecue that hasn’t had the gas connections checked.

Says Tim Forte, redhanded creative group head: “Rather than making a heavy-handed, scare tactic ad, we took an approach people are more likely to enjoy watching in order to get this message through. Barbecues can be dangerous, but we don’t want to bore people to death either”.

TV, print and online will be rolled out in the coming weeks.
