Photographer/director Derek Henderson launches production company Down By The River Films

Dynamic photographer and director Derek Henderson has launched his new film production company Down By The River Films.

Says Henderson: “Having worked in the stills industry for over 20 years in advertising, editorial and fine art photography, I found myself increasingly drawn to shooting motion. I wanted to explore visual storytelling through film and after working for some time with an established film production company felt it was time to launch my own venture.”

With a visual voice often described as emotionally honest and with an ability to imbue ordinary everyday scenes with mysterious beauty, Henderson’s eye for composition and engaging, sensitive performance translates into a transcendent body of filmwork which has seen his talents called upon for tourism, fashion and brand identity productions.

His unique value comes from his capacity to shoot both the moving image and stills components, bringing a visual consistency across the campaign along with all the production advantages this entails.

Says Henderson: “In today’s market I felt there was a space for this way of communicating ideas – an approach which results in a more cohesive campaign.”
