SCASALVO.jpgSouthern Cross Austereo (SCA) and the Salvation Army have again partnered to collect toys for underprivileged children this festive season as part of the annual I Believe in Christmas national toy drive via Fabric Films.

From now until 13 December, 37 SCA markets across regional Australia will open their doors to members of local communities to donate gifts for children who would otherwise go without.

Says Rhys Holleran, Southern Cross Austereo CEO: “The I Believe in Christmas toy drive appeal allows more children to experience the joy and festivity that Christmas brings and it’s an opportunity for us to give back to the community and provide support to families in need.

“Last year more than 22,000 toys were donated through this initiative and we are proud to partner with The Salvation Army again with the aim of exceeding last year’s efforts.”

Says Major Neil Dickson from the Salvation Army: “Christmas is a time of added expense for all of us. But for those who’ve barely managed throughout the year to make ends meet, they find their money no longer stretches and that added expense can be too much. This year the toys will go to children whose families are either experiencing homelessness or are out of work and struggling financially.

“Some of these families are single-parent families, and sadly, some of them have escaped a domestic violence situation.  We know that Christmas isn’t only about receiving gifts but it is one way we can help families feel special at Christmas and enjoy the wonders of the season like everyone else.”

With a united goal to beat last year’s number of toys and bring a smile to more children than ever, The Salvation Army is most in need of toy donations for teens aged 13 years and older.
