The City of Sydney asks cyclists to be more aware in a new campaign via In The Thicket
The City Of Sydney are asking cyclists to be more aware in its latest campaign via In The Thicket.
The animated film aims to make the growing number of bike riders more aware of their riding behaviour on and off cycle paths, and to build a well-educated, safe and courteous community of bike riders.
Statistics show bike trips across the Local Government Area have more than doubled over the last three years and are set to multiply over the next few years, as the bike network continues to grow.
Says Steve Howlett, design manager at City Of Sydney: “This campaign aims to promote and encourage gracious riding and the associated behaviours. With the numbers of bike riders in Sydney growing, and growing fast, we want the riders of today to set the example for those of the future.”
The campaign features the video and is supplemented with a series of posters and postcards, recommending riders to “share the path with care”, “stop on red” and ‘ring your bell’.

Lovely stuff. Makes me feel like I’m in France for some reason. And happy.
As ever, sydneycycleways is more concerned with motorists and pedestrians. Should be called sydneycyclefoes. If the city of Sydney wants to lecture cyclists, the can suck my bottom bracket.
Hows about lecturing anachronistic, polluting car drivers and headphone-addled pedestrians FFS.
Beautifully executed.
I can’t help but think that this could have been another “Dumb Ways to Die”, with such and important and engaging message.
Sadly, it isn’t.
I’m with Hubert
If you’d done a tiny bit of research you would have found out that 90% of cyclists don’t have a bell.
@Dickhead cyclist that kind of says something that you might of thought of before you posted with that name I would have thought.
The amount of cyclists that run red lights, ride on pedestrian strips and blame ‘terrible motorists’ are increasing at the same rate that overall traffic in Sydney is slowing down because of these pin-dicks.
Learn how to ride and introduce a license, with registration plates for cyclists who want to be on main roads. It may save a few lives and put the main offenders off the road where they belong.
Hope this works.
I’m constantly wanting to punch cyclists in the face repeatedly.
