shane1.jpgTransport for New South Wales has today launched one of its biggest ever safety campaigns, aimed at raising awareness of the dangers of not wearing lifejackets via GPY&R Sydney.

The campaign is being fronted by Aussie comedian Shane Jacobson, who uses his unique style of humour in a series of videos to get a serious message across in a light-hearted and watchable format. The videos were filmed over two days on Sydney Harbour and see Jacobson approach fishermen, families and kayakers to ask why they aren’t wearing the new generation of slim and stylish lifejackets.

shane2.jpgA press conference, hosted by Transport for NSW Minister Duncan Gay and attended by Shane Jacobson, was held this morning ensuring widespread media coverage for the campaign.

The five videos in the “That’s not on” campaign are part of Transport for New South Wales wider lifejacket safety campaign – “Lifejackets. They never ruined a day on the water”.

Nearly 2 million NSW residents enjoy a variety of water sport activities; whether boating, sailing, kayaking or even jet skiing. However, 9 out of 10 people who drowned while boating in NSW in the last decade were not wearing a lifejacket. With a new generation of comfortable, affordable, lightweight and stylish lifejackets styles available, showcased by Jacobson in the series, there’s simply no excuse for not wearing one.
