After winning the hotly contested five-way agency pitch earlier this year, Showpony Advertising has delivered its first campaign for HomeStart Finance.

Before exploring creative, Showpony conducted an extensive brand review.

Says Greg Kavanagh, group account director at Showpony: “The research revealed that HomeStart’s key benefit is the ability to get first home buyers into their own homes sooner than traditional lending institutions. By offering a very low deposit loan and an inexpensive alternative to the banks’ requirement for Lenders Mortgage Insurance, HomeStart customers need significantly less money up-front to get into their own home.”

Says Parris Mesidis, Showpony creative director: “To bring the ‘sooner’ insight to life we wanted to show people literally aging before our eyes as they discussed the challenges of saving for a home loan. For the concept to work we needed the aging process to look as convincing as possible.”

To achieve this effect Showpony partnered with Sydney’s renowned Odd Studio, and they were thrilled with the results.

Says Mesidis: “Having seen some of Odd Studio’s previous work our expectations were already sky high, but we were still blown away by the results. Even on a cinema screen the integrity of the prosthetics is absolutely amazing.”

To produce the prosthetics under fairly tight deadlines, Odd Studio needed easy access to the principal talent and so the 30 and 15 second spots were shot over two days, on location in Sydney by The Precinct, using local talent including Tropfest winner Hardie.
