Youth Projects launches its Christmas appeal with latest campaign via Grown-ups, Sydney
Sydney creative agency Grown-ups believe in Santa. And to prove it, they have recruited him to star in their latest campaign to raise money for Youth Projects.
The spot was created by Mick Hunter and Grant Booker, and directed by Paul Goldman via Playbig. The DoP was the legendary Russell Boyd ASC.
Says Melanie Raymond, chair of Youth Projects: “When I read the script I just knew it was a brilliant idea and so perfect for what Youth Projects wanted to convey. And that was the view of everyone I showed it to, and they’re a tough audience”.
The commercial will be supported by online and social media.

It too long and lost me half way.
I found it too long and it lost me half way through. I also have to say that showing Santa at Xmas , means the spot is competing with a lot of other brands out there doing exactly the same and sadly, regardless of the v/o, i don’t think it’ll cut through.
yeah, nuh
If this doesn’t move you are made of granite. Superb.
This ad gave me goosebumps.
What do you want for Christmas? More stuff? Worked for me.
Very nice. Merry Christmas to all involved.
Might be a little forced but it’s not a bad idea. Just a little forced and old-hat.
WOW
Good, powerful. Have to agree, less probably would be more and perhaps the 30 hits harder (if that’s possible). Spot the grammatical error in the end super.
Dear Grinch,
What else do you put in a Xmas campaign? The Easter Bunny???
Well written and directed, not to mention seeing a brilliant actor doing his bit for charity.
Well done Guys.
Have to agree. Best Charity spot I’ve seen written for a long while.
Love Max Cullen what a superb Santa. Beautifully shot too.
Well done Mick and Booker. There was nothing forced for me. Nicely executed Paul.
This ad might be the best present some unfortunate people might get.
Any ad that can evoke an emotion does it’s job.
This ad not only does that, but hopefully makes a change & a difference to those who need it. Dig deep.
Strange they are no where to be seen…are they still laboring in Santa’s factory?
It’s easy to let a lot of charity campaigns slide past your heart for too obviously pulling on your heart strings. Not so here. A powerful script made more biting with the use of the sweet child’s V/O. Well done to all involved.
Curnow, there’s no apostrophe in that use of ‘its’.
What a disgusting ad… Surely there are more ways to bring awareness then degrading Christmas!!!!!
