BWM Group is driving further integration between BWM and its digital agency Sputnik in Melbourne, creating a single production hub and integrated client teams, plus extending the role of managing director Mark Watkin.

The Sputnik and BWM teams in Melbourne will now come under the wing of Watkin, who will move from the role of managing director for BWM, to BWM group managing director, Melbourne.

The Melbourne operations will also have a single production hub, leveraging the combined expertise of the two teams. To boost BWM’s digital credentials in the Victorian capital, a search is also underway for new digital experience director to complement digital experience director Dan Robathan in Sydney.

Says Paul Williams, BWM Group CEO: “We are continuing to evolve BWM and Sputnik around the core philosophy of ‘Ideas That Get Australians Talking’. Having a single BWM/ Sputnik production hub will bring together all the skills we have in the Group. We’ve also created cross-functional teams around our existing clients, bringing together the appropriate skills for briefs, strategy and creative execution.”

Nick Lewis, the current managing director of Sputnik, Melbourne, was a key architect in the structural change. Lewis has decided to move on to a new role with Coles.

Williams paid tribute to Lewis’ efforts in creating the new structure: “Nick has been a key player in developing the strategy to integrate the BWM and Sputnik agencies since we joined forces last year. We are very grateful to him for all his hard work.”

Says Williams: “We believe the new changes will bring the best in Sputnik and the best of BWM together in a truly seamless fashion and look forward to delivering brilliant rounded ideas that Get Australians Talking.”
