Cerebral Palsy League launches ballsy new fundraising campaign via Laundry, Brisbane

CPL.jpgBold and brave individuals around the nation are being encouraged to “be ballsy for cerebral palsy” this February with the launch of FebruDAREy – a new fundraising campaign supporting Cerebral Palsy League created by Brisbane-based creative agency Laundry. 

The campaign kicks off with teaser commercials, produced by Two Little Indians’ James Greville and director Hayley MacFarlane, featuring campaign characters larrikin Seymour, stunts ambushing un-expecting morning joggers and prankster Joe Low Blow pulling a sneaky light switch stunt on his uptight boss.

 

The campaign is turning the whole month of February into a dare-fest to spread awareness and raise vital funds for Cerebral Palsy League. FebruDAREy will see hundreds of challengers face their biggest fears and carry out dares for donations. Also post video proof of their dares on various social media channels using the #februdarey hashtag.

“The fundraising market is heavily saturated and donor fatigue is high,” says agency creative director Nick Harvey. “We knew we not only needed to develop a big idea to get cut through and reach the target audience but also a concept that had a strong synergy with Cerebral Palsy League and their vision.”  

Statistics reveal that every 14 hours a child is born with cerebral palsy, making it the most common childhood physical disability in Australia. Yet awareness of the disability is surprisingly low.

The campaign officially launched this morning with a special appearance from Anchorman 2 star Josh Lawson on Channel 7 Sunrise. The well-known Aussie actor has come on board as an ambassador for the campaign.

“People with Cerebral Palsy face challenges every single day,” said Josh Lawson on Sunrise this morning, “we are just asking you to step out of your comfort zone and challenge yourself “

 

The campaign has received support from the media across outdoor, press and radio with the likes of Triple J and Nova and television networks such as Channel 7 and Channel 10 all getting on board to help support Cerebral Palsy League.

“With the support the campaign has received so far I wouldn’t be surprised to see it compete with the likes of Movember and World’s Greatest Shave in future,” says Harvey.
