As Australia’s highest film and television Awards, the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) Awards are Australia’s equivalent of the Oscars and the BAFTAs.

The AACTA Awards are determined by accredited screen professionals, who are members of the Australian Academy, through an annual voting process, marking the highest screen accolade in Australia.

Says Sampson: “It was my first time hosting a documentary and to win the AACTA for Best Documentary of the Year wasn’t something I thought about. Having nearly died making it – it’s great to see it get recognised. It certainly puts a lot of pressure on Series 2.”
