Perfectly Adequate’s shocking Learn for Life spot attracts over 3 million YouTube hits in two days
Perth-based production company Perfectly Adequate has created and produced a new PSA spot for the not-for-profit Learn for Life Foundation WA.
The hard hitting spot is aimed at high school students and promotes the “Stay in School” message and pushes the importance of education message. It is written and directed by Henry Inglis and Aaron McCann, who together with producer, Lauren Elliott, formed Perfectly Adequate in 2009.
“Set Yourself Free” has more than three million views on YouTube since its release two days ago.
Their previous spot for Central Institute of Technology – “It’s a Snap” – a comedy digital short about ‘learning in the city’ was also an internet hit. In March 2012 Hollywood’s leading talent agency, Creative Artists Agency (CAA) signed them.
Inglis and McCann met whilst studying Film & Television at CIT in 2002 and since graduating have seen their filmmaker careers blossom.

seriously?
I’m all for gratuitous excess, but this is just illogical crap.
There needs to be some (however tenuous) reason for the explosions to happen other than to justify the logo at the end.
There isn’t.
Obviously don’t skip school because of all the stray coastal landmines we have in Australia. Duh.
The deaths of innocent teens need to stop.
Yeah….that happened to me…..a right piss off…..wish I hadn’t skipped class.
and they complain about the abc wasting tax payers dollars. this is so childish. laughable. bollocks.
You should be fucking ashamed of yourselves for making this crap.
Not even a good Chip Shop entry, it’s just dumb.
Nice cinematography. Nice grade. Other than that, bollocks. Seriously.
Thought it was an anti land mine campaign just before the end logo. Shame, could have been a powerful message, giving some perspective of what it might be like to live in a country where land mines are part of everyday life.
Is this a short film that a student has slammed a logo on to try and demonstrate that they have a showreel with a commercial on it?
What about the schools near land mines?
Millions of views because it’s funny, not because the message resonates. This will make kids want to skip school. Get your strategy right before you pull out the tomato sauce.
Stay in school kids or you’ll end up writing fucking horrible ads.
good point doddsy
This ad is only good if by “Stay in School” they meant “Stay in Ad School.”
LOLOL
Agree with Wasted Opp, I work for a Cambodian charity and the big issue is land mines, this image may have worked to promote what it’s like to live in that environment. As for staying in school, many brilliant and successful creatives didn’t.
