This year sees the introduction of a new Digitally Led Ideas category, developed to recognise stand-out campaigns that are grounded either entirely or mostly in a digitally-executed idea. These campaigns might use other channels, including mainstream media, but must demonstrate that the digital idea was the catalyst for momentum and that without the core digital elements the campaign would not work.

Effies chairman Matthew Melhuish stressed the importance of continuing to build Australia’s culture of accountability and effectiveness.

Says Melhuish: “The Australian Effie Awards has experienced extremely high volumes of entries each year since its inception, reaching a record 228 in 2013. Emphasis on achieving, and being able to demonstrate, outstanding results has never been so important to agencies and their clients. It means each year we are inspired again by the innovative and creative ideas being put before the judges. I look forward to seeing how high the bar will be raised this year.”

Round One Judging will take place on 3rd June 2014 with finalists announced on 11th June 2014. Round Two Judging is set for 15th July 2014.

The Effie winners will be announced at an awards presentation in Sydney on Thursday the 4th of September.
