Screen Shot 2014-02-04 at 7.48.49 am.jpgIn August last year, Australia lost ʻThe Ashesʼ in England in a 3-0 whitewash. To win the return Ashes in Australia, newly appointed coach Darren Lehmann made a resolution — to be better players on and off the field.

This summer, with the Australian Menʼs Cricket Team ahead 3-0, Australians were watching and waiting for history to occur with a 5-0 victory. Bupa the official health partner of the Australian Cricket Team, saw to engage independent agency Bengar Films to produce a timely and relevant New Year television campaign.

In this ad directed by Bengar Films founder Ben Gartland, coachLehmann shares quiet insights to losing the last Ashes in England and the one resolution made to win in Australia this summer – Bupa, Make One.

Says John Moore from Bupa: “We readily identified with Darren Lehmannʼs commitment to improving the performance of the Australian team, but it was his singular passion in delivering against it that made us identify its relevance to our One Resolution campaign.

“The challenge for us was to find a way to bring out Darrenʼs journey in a way that would engage ordinary people in his achievement and inspire them to a similar level of focus and commitment for a resolution that resonates for them.”

Says Gartland from Bengar: “This ad was a unique opportunity with an infamously private person to share feelings on losing and how to turn it around. With only two-hours of shoot time, it had to be authentic and close enough for people to grab onto.

“We start with Darren in a reflective position in an empty MCG – hands and eyes, then leading us to the centre of the MCG where the now legendary coach suggests we can achieve success by making a resolution, too.”

The campaign is currently on air on Channel Nine, Ten and One nationally.
