Playing comedic caricatures of themselves, the ensemble cast also includes Chris Taylor (The Chaser) as the shows celebrity front man, Nathan Earl as the struggling producer and Joshua Tyler, “The Expert” who writes his own blog.

Set in the stunning wine regions of New South Wales, the hilarious behind-the-scenes comedy follows the trials and tribulations of a hapless TV crew as they endeavor to create a unique and engaging wine show.  Each of the 5 episodes in Plonk’s first series explores a different NSW wine region, highlighting the quality and diversity of experiences available.

Plonk has been supported by the NSW Government through its tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW.

Says Sandra Chipchase, CEO of Destination NSW: “This series showcases some of our State’s most stunning and inspiring countryside through the eyes of these great characters. They have light-heartedly put the spotlight on our regional wine and tourism experiences that are vital to our State’s Visitor Economy and at the same time made everyone who watches laugh.”

Says Earl: “Glen and myself have been blown away by the wine industry’s level of excitement and support for Plonk. We’ve always seen the show as a comedic love letter to an industry which has given us plenty of great nights, long lunches and weekends to remember.

“Like a great wine Plonk is destined to arrive with hope and anticipation, deliver nuanced flavours and provide memorable experiences then eventually become sluggish and flat with age.”
