OvarianCancer_v02.jpgCancer Australia has worked with creative animation studio The Magnificent Itch to create a 30 second animated spot.

The animated piece runs on the premise “nobody knows your body like you do” and asks female viewers to act if something doesn’t seem right. It was launched at a press conference with the Prime Minister Tony Abbott.

OvarianCancer_v03.jpgSays Guy Jamieson, co-director: “I think I felt a little intimidated coming up with concepts on an exclusively female topic, so I referred to my wife for ideas. She nailed it in one. I love the concept of this story. It’s a very intimate and feminine creative solution and I very much enjoyed seeing the animation come together.”

job_ovarian-cancer_large_01.jpgCancer Australia CEO, Professor Helen Zorbas said the video was an important tool to help raise awareness of ovarian cancer in Australia.

Says Zorbas: “Ovarian cancer claims the life of one woman every 8 hours in Australia. As there is no effective screening test for ovarian cancer, it’s important for women to be aware of the most common symptoms of the disease, so they can identify and act on any persistent changes that are unusual for them.”

The clip was created as shareable content through Facebook and Twitter and leads the viewer to an interactive YouTube video that tests your knowledge of the disease.

Says Stefan Wernik, co-director: “It’s great to work with a client who is happy to try a striking design style. Animation has the ability to deliver powerful images to a mature audience and create emotional work where live action could feel a little heavy handed.”
