DDB Sydney strategic division bolsters with new hire Mervyn Tan in digital planning director role

Mervyn Tan.jpgDDB Sydney is pleased to announce the appointment of Mervyn Tan to the role of digital planning director within the agency’s growing strategic division.

Tan joins DDB Sydney after 15 years of driving the creative and strategic agenda of one of Australia’s first digital agencies, Autumn:01, which counts Toshiba and Destination NSW amongst its clients. A founding member of the agency, he has been working in digital communications and strategy since 1998 providing strategy, technology and design services to some of the world’s most recognised organisations.

Says Leif Stromnes, DDB Sydney managing director, strategy and innovation: “We are delighted to welcome Mervyn to the team. His extensive experience, knowledge and pioneering attitude when it comes to digital innovation will really bolster the division as we continue to develop progressive ideas for our clients.”

Says Tan: “Leif is really passionate about the evolving role of digital and its positioning within the crafting and presenting of effective strategy. This passion, coupled with the innovative “think tanks” already at work in the agency, such as Shaper, really attracted me to role.”

Stromnes has overseen the hugely successful growth of DDB Sydney’s strategic division in recent times with the department playing a key role in the agency’s numerous award-winning campaigns of 2013.

Says Tan: “I have always looked for the next challenge within the scope of digital and its capabilities when it comes to communication strategy. DDB has strong digital components already at work for numerous clients and I am excited to get working on this in depth.”

Tan will work across a broad spectrum of DDB Sydney clients. He currently sits on the judging panel for a number of leading industry Awards including, IAB, ADMA, New York Festivals and AME Awards.
