Melbourne International Comedy Festival unveils 2014 campaign via Clemenger BBDO, Melbourne
CB Exclusive – Clemenger BBDO Melbourne has launched an ad for the world-renowned Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s 2014 season.
Directed by Robin Walters, the spot is set in a maternity ward and features a humorous take on a father meeting his newborn baby.
Susan Provan, festival director expects that most people will relate strongly to the ad.
Says Provan: “Every dad relishes in torturing their kids with bad jokes and dodgy puns. Humour is incredibly subjective and for the sake of kids everywhere we encourage fathers to come along to this year’s Melbourne Comedy Festival and learn from the experts. Everyone else should come along to enjoy themselves hugely.”
Melbourne International Comedy Festival is one of Australia’s most loved festivals and this year features acts from 12 countries presenting 478 shows including more than 220 Australian premieres.
There is something for every comedy taste.
Melbourne International Comedy Festival will run from 26 March – 20 April.

Dreadful.
I love it.
Mmm, ‘Dad Jokes’.
Is it too late to suggest the line ‘You’ll piss yourself laughing”?
A rich vein, surely.
Take it away, boys.
Hilarious!
You have to be a Dad.
Not the best coming from that place.
Did it need the VO / ‘Every year…’ bit?
In my opinion you could have just had the dad crack his DadJoke and then wrap it up with end line. But then again, what do I know?
The kings of comedy no more.

Ha! said – I’m a dad, about to be again. It still ain’t funny.
Given the extremely rich vein of comedic talent, surely there could be something better than this?
Not funny.
Clems are right off the boil these days.
Their formula feels tired and each ad just a bit worse than the previous one.
Guys, being honest, you are a long way from the form we expect.
Been a long time since beer chase.
About as funny as smashing your funny bone into something.
Some one tell Clems the digital age is here, they seem to still make half funny TV ads for all there clients.
Sorry guys, that is a fail.
Still my favorite

Hope Clemenger include this gold plus their Seek work in next year’s Campaign Brief Agency Rankings.
What’s everyone’s problem?
Country miles from the stuff Clems used to do.
Hope he comedy festival is a whole lot funnier than this tired old gag.
I’m a bit worried about the recent work from Clems.becoming a one trick pony and far too married to comedy TVC’s.
Someone tell Clems there digital age is here.
digital, digital, digital…blah blah blah
why?
it’s a TV ad! they will have a contra deal in place so that MCF gets free spots – so yeah, they made an ad because thats what they needed… get over yourselves for god sake.
Hey The Internet, use The Correct Grammar. You might sound less The Buffoon. Twice.
Script ok, hammy casting and direction.
Have Clems made an ad in the past three years without a bearded guy in it?
@ The Internet.
Clems Melb were shortlisted for Digital Agency of the year at adnews. Quite hard to do that with just TV.
Nice trolling try. But a fail.
I actually laughed out loud at this.
I think it’s hilarious
A different take on the ad
