Produced by the official AFL game card publisher Team Zone especially for the participating News Corp Australia newspapers, the release of the game cards coincides with the launch of the 2014 AFL season.

The ‘Official AFL Team 2014 Best & Fairest game cards’ will be available to readers of The Herald Sun and The Advertiser from this Saturday, and then every day for a further nine days before Team Zone’s 2014 series goes on public sale on 24 March.

In a boon for newsagents, the promotion in Victoria is channel specific, meaning the product will only be available at participating newsagencies.

The promotion is being supported by a widespread media campaign which includes television, radio, social media, print and digital executions across Victoria and South Australia.

The TVC features last season’s Best & Fairest winners, including Kade Simpson from Carlton Blues (VIC SPOT), Nathan Jones from Melbourne Demons, and Rory Sloane from Adelaide Crows (SA SPOT), being “home delivered” along with the newspaper- landing under a sprinkler, in a tree and on the front lawn.

Says Damian Eales, News Corp Australia’s group director – marketing: “The AFL is part of the fabric of Victorian and South Australian communities. The game instils a sense of pride with locals. The official AFL game cards are highly sought-after in school playgrounds across these states and I’m thrilled to be giving our readers in these regions another reason to purchase theHerald Sun or The Advertiser.”

Says David S. Miller, Team Zone publisher: “We’re pleased to be partnering with the Herald Sunand The Advertiser to provide our official 2014 Best & Fairest game card series exclusively to their readers. These newspapers are the go-to resource for the biggest and best AFL news in their respective states. To partner with them, we are ensuring our cards receive the broadest coverage to the game’s fans.”

The first pack of six cards is available for free with the purchase of the Herald Sun and The Advertiser on Saturday 15 March. An album together with a bonus pack of three cards is available for $2.50 with the purchase of the Sunday Herald Sun and Sunday Mail (SA) with the remaining packs of six cards available for $2.00 with the purchase of the Herald Sun and The Advertiser in the days thereafter.

In total, more than 8.6 million cards will be produced for this campaign.
