The 20th Annual AIMIA Awards see the largest field of finalists to date with 40 winners announced during the course of the evening. This year’s finalists featured the most innovative technology to date with creative campaigns using eye-tracking, 3D printing, data science and even robotics.
In his opening speech, AIMIA CEO David Holmes recognised the calibre of talent in the industry.
Says Holmes: “Australian digital practitioners are globally sought after for their creativity and work ethic. We are seeing an emerging trend for Australian digital businesses to expand internationally and compete exceptionally well. But make no mistake we are in a global fight for dominance.”
AIMIA chairman, Tim O’Neill also highlighted the need for the industry to collaborate to ensure Australia continues to grow as a digital leader on an international scale.
Says O’Neill: “We need to work more as an industry if we are to overcome our geographic isolation and be a top ten player on the international stage. Collaboration and access to investment have been identified as the most important drivers of all leading digital economies across the globe.”
The AIMIA Awards continue to celebrate the best work of Australia’s digital content, services and applications each year.
Says Holmes: “Sharing and celebrating great work is imperative to the development and health of an industry as dynamic as ours.
“This site is designed with open collaboration in mind. The digital industry hub is a place where we can share and gain access to resources, best practices and thought leadership as well as identify areas that need industry focus, such as faster, more affordable broadband or employee share schemes. With the industry’s involvement, this resource will become a key competitive advantage for us all.”
Attendees were encouraged to get involved to help the site evolve and become a platform for establishing Australia in the international market.

How is this winning awards in 2014 when it came out in 2012?? Surely these awards, like all others, only consider work that has run in the previous 12 months.
And if that is the case, how come CB was talking about the campaign in December 2012, 16 months ago?
