Matt Fishburn appointed in dual role of Clems Tasmania MD + media director of OMD Tasmania

MarcusMurphy_MattFishburn_LibbyWalker_Apr2014.jpgTasmania’s advertising, media and communications landscape is set to develop further, with the announcement today of Matt Fishburn (centre) taking on the dual role of Clemenger Tasmania’s new managing director and media director of OMD Tasmania.

Fishburn returns to Clemenger Tasmania where he spent five years as business development & innovation director. He then went on to become OMD Tasmania’s founding business director, successfully launching a local office for the world’s largest media agency.

Fishburn believes that now is the perfect time to bring an advanced level of creative and media integration within Tasmania – one with a truly global reach.

Says Fishburn: “This isn’t the continuation of a traditional agency model – we’re embracing this as an opportunity to present ourselves as an entirely new offering. That means local skills with a local, national and global outlook.

“Ideas are an integral part of both disciplines and both of these disciplines must work together. As complexity accelerates in our landscape, we can bring specialised skill sets from our media and creative arms.”

Fishburn is excited to again work closely with Marcus Murphy, Clemenger Tasmania’s creative director, to bring OMD’s award winning processes and sophistication to its new creative development offering.

Says Murphy: “Matt and I share a very simple vision”, says Murphy. “We both strongly believe in the power of creative thinking to incite change for Tasmania.”

Agrees Fishburn: “We’ll now be known for inciting change within the state, and we’ll be starting out by implementing some big and exciting initiatives. Watch this space.”

Tony Hart, current managing director of Clemenger Tasmania, will be stepping down from the position and will retain a key research function within the new agency.

Libby Nielsen has been appointed as OMD Tasmania’s new account director. Nielsen joined Clemenger Tasmania in 2008 as a media planner/buyer before becoming an account director in 2011.
