Gwynne-St-1-thumb-400x228-119652.jpgHell Studios, the photographic facility based in Melbourne’s advertising hub of Cremorne has welcomed two new members to the team, photographer Tom Franks and DOP Liam Gilmour.

Says Nicky Finlay, Hell Studios co-owner: “When we started, we always planned to bring extra people in. But you can’t just walk through the gates of Hell – you’ve got to earn your place.”

It appears that Franks and Gilmour have not only earned their places in Hell, they’ve also fitted in nicely.

Says Finlay: “Bringing a DOP in was always a next step for us. So many integrated campaigns want a motion component to go with their stills. We just needed to make sure we got someone who had the talent and attitude we were after. Liam’s skills and experience are unquestioned with commercial projects across 16 countries. What’s even nicer though is that he’s a lovely bloke to work with.”

Says Carlos Alcaide, photographer and co-owner: “Tom is everything you want in a young photographer. He’s brought a lot of life experience with his engineering background plus he showed enough hunger for photography that he quit a well paid career and moved to Toronto to do his apprenticeship. We’re already seeing in his early work a level of maturity and refreshingly new approach that only comes from spending time outside the industry.”
