Airbag Productions director Aaron Wilson’s feature Canopy has been released in Australia to critical acclaim.

Says Karl Quinn, SMH: “Tense, atmospheric and beautifully shot, the film has no more than a couple of lines of dialogue but foregrounds sound in a way few movies ever do.”

Set in 1942, Singapore, during the second World War, Canopy is a realistic and gripping adventure story of an Australian fighter pilot (Khan Chittenden) who is shot down in combat by the Japanese. As night falls we follow his journey through a perilous jungle in search of sanctuary where he encounters a Chinese resistance fighter (Mo Tzu-Yi) whom is in a similar predicament. Together the two young men must put their trust in each other to survive.

Canopy premiered at the recent Toronto International Film Festival where it was unanimously praised as a ‘remarkably Immersive Experience’ (Los Angeles Times). The film then went on to further critical acclaim and to win awards at the Busan, Abu Dhabi and Rotterdam International Film Festivals.

Wilson has received a number of accolades for his commercial work in the last 2 years including 2 Silver Spikes, bronze awards at LIA & Award and finalist at New York Festivals and Cannes for his work with McCann Melbourne on The Impossible Orchestra.

Airbag Productions post and VFX arm CanopyVFX completed all the visual effects and the highly praised sound track was designed by Rodney Lowe at Production Alley. The film was shot by Stefan Duscio.

Canopy is currently screening in selected cinema’s in Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, Adelaide and Brisbane.
