S-RED.jpgFairfax Media’s Australian Publishing Media will launch its new and expanded entertainment guide ‘S’ in The Sun-Herald this weekend, bringing readers Sunday’s definitive guide to fashion, gossip, entertainment and going out in Sydney for the week ahead.

The most popular elements of the existing entertainment guide Unwind now become part of ‘S’, featuring new pages in a vibrant layout devoted to eating out, the 8 Days planner with the best options for going out, as well as the ‘S’ team’s pick of what to do if readers choose to stay in.

The ‘S’ cover stories will continue to showcase talented screen and stage actors and musicians, but added to the mix will be compelling guides to enjoying Sydney, from entertainment to food, fashion and festivals.

Says Omri Godijn, national sales director – entertainment, sport, drive: “Our new and expanded ‘S’ plays an important role in our exceptional national entertainment portfolio, which together with ‘M’ in Melbourne, gives advertisers access to an audience of more than 1.3 million* readers every month.

“The Sun-Herald’s new ‘S’ section combines the best elements of Unwind with the fashion and gossip buzz of ‘S’, with a fresh focus on making the most of going out in Sydney. It offers advertisers the chance to reach Sydney’s entertainment lovers when they are thinking, talking about and planning their week ahead.”

The new features in ‘S’ include:

  • A new page devoted to eating out, with Daisy Dumas reviewing a celebrity’s favourite Sydney café or restaurant
  • The 8 Days planner, with a bigger focus on going out in Sydney, day and night, plus the team’s pick of what to do if you feel like staying in
  • Award-winning film critic Paul Byrnes joins the ‘S’ team with a new weekly pop culture column
  • Fashion editor Georgina Safe will continue to get inside the wardrobes of Sydney’s famous faces, but also adds her own style tips for readers plus the best bargains around town.

Says Kate Cox, The Sun-Herald managing editor: “We’re thrilled to bring the new ‘S’ to our readers. The most popular parts of Unwind remain, including Sandra Hall and Craig Mathieson’s film reviews, insightful music and stage coverage, as well as Sunday’s only double-page books spread.

“Andrew Hornery will continue to spice things up with ‘PS on Sunday’, Jo Casamento’s The Goss and Party Parade keeps an eye on Sydney celebrities, and the gorgeous Kate Waterhouse will still be interviewing the world’s most famous faces in ‘Date with Kate’. This, coupled with the new design we’ve developed to reflect our readers’ Sunday mindset, as well as how much Sydneysiders like to go out, makes the new ‘S’ the definitive guide to entertainment, fashion and gossip in Sydney.”

‘S’ launched on Wednesday night with a trade event at Sydney’s The Ivy, hosted by Kate Cox and Omri Godijn. More than 140 guests were treated to a performance by hot EDM duo Peking Duk.

National Entertainment editor Monique Farmer said the entertainment portfolio reached more than three million* readers each month. In Sydney, aside from ‘S,’ it includes the cultural bible Spectrum each Saturday; the weekend going-out section Shortlist on Friday; the respected TV sections, The Guide in Monday’s The Sydney Morning Herald and the TV Liftout in The Sun-Herald; and daily arts and entertainment coverage in The Sydney Morning Herald and smh.com.au.
