Sidwell joins Fairfax Radio Network from Mediabrands’ creative agency Airborne where he was creative strategy and ideas director. He has more than 25 years experience in media and advertising in Australia and South East Asia. Prior to Airborne, Sidwell was national creative solutions and ideas director at Southern Cross Austereo and was responsible for establishing the Austereo Innovation Group. He has also worked with Astro Radio in Malaysia and has won Media Federation of Australia Awards for Wild Turkey and Kia Motors Australia.

Fairfax Radio Network national sales director Nick Randall said the role of national content solutions director signaled a significant change in direction for the network beyond integration.

Says Randall: “The appointment of Andrew in this important role gives us the ability to develop new solutions for our clients and moves from what was a largely locally focused radio integration, to a true network approach that puts the power of our brands together.  The benefit to our clients will be much more powerful solutions that tap into our rich network of content creation and deliver our unmatched influential, intelligent and informed audience.

“Andrew brings a unique perspective and excellent creative and strategic capability to our network. He has a proven track record and I can’t wait to see the ideas he brings to the table for our clients.”

Fairfax Radio Network’s existing integration team will now evolve to offer the creation, curation and amplification of advertiser-led content.  This team will be led by Sidwell who will also work with Fairfax Media’s FX, content marketing and events executives to harness creative and content marketing solutions that leverage all of Fairfax’s assets.

Says Sidwell: “The business transformation taking place at Fairfax makes it one of the most exciting media companies to work for in the region. I’m chomping at the bit to start creating intelligent content solutions for our clients that leverage all the amazing toys, tools and talents of the broader Fairfax business.”

His appointment is effective from August 5, 2014.
