The Independent Grocers of Australia have always been a big supporter of the locals and now they are helping local soccer clubs, in a bid to help foster new soccer talent across Australia. The IGA Future Soccer Stars promotion will give 2,500 youth soccer clubs around the country the opportunity to win a share of $150,000 in club grants.

Customers also have the chance to win a share of $100,000 in instant win prizes, just by shopping at their local IGA and entering online at iga.com.au/futurestars. Shoppers can nominate their local club to receive a grant every time they shop and enter the competition – this not only increases their chance of winning an instant prize but also increases the club’s chance of winning one of 15 $2,500 club prize draws taking place each week during 19th May and 17th June.

The fully integrated campaign featuring John Aloisi will be brought to life in TV, radio, digital, catalogues and in-store POS.  Soccer Clubs were also provided with a kit to help promote the campaign to their members to increase their chances of winning a grant.  The Grand Prize for one lucky club is a $10,000 club grant and an exclusive training session coached by Aloisi himself.

IGA is encouraging its social communities to also get in on the action to win other prizes simply by sharing photos or videos of what soccer means to them on Instagram, Twitter or Vine using #igafuturestars. The best photos and videos will be showcased on IGA’s Facebook and Twitter.

To launch the promotion, 116 kids from six Sydney soccer clubs joined forces with Aloisi and IGA in Queens Park Sydney, and set a new RecordSetters World Record for the Largest Kids Penalty Shoot-out.

Says Fergus Collins, CEO Metcash Food & Grocery Supermarkets: “Community really is at the heart of this campaign and we’re excited to help kick start Australia’s soccer stars of tomorrow as well as rewarding new and existing IGA shoppers.

“The largest participation sport in Australian is the junior ranks of soccer, and IGA’s Future Soccer Stars gives us the opportunity to tap into communities at a local level. We’re thrilled to be able to help support this growing sports industry.”

With 1400 stores nationwide it is easier than ever to find a local IGA store for your chance to shop and win.

IGA’s Future Soccer Stars promotion will run in stores from 19th May through to 17th June.
