Tim_Addington_profile.jpgPublishers Australia has appointed Tim Addington as its new executive director as the association prepares to expand its activities nationally.

Addington is a communications professional with 15 years’ experience in journalism and public relations. He is currently communications director at independent advertising agency The Works and prior to that was associate publisher and editor of B&T for more than six years.

Before moving to Australia he was launch news editor and then editor of advertising and marketing publication Campaign Middle East based in Dubai. He started his career working In London for a news agency and national newspapers.

Says Geoff Hird, Publishers Australia chairman: “We are delighted to have appointed someone with Tim’s publishing experience to the role of executive director. His remit is to deliver increased value to members via events, training and an enhanced Excellence Awards program and to lobby on behalf of the publishing industry and members. Combined with our recent move to new premises, this is an exciting time for Publishers Australia and the board of directors looks forward to working with Tim in the years to come.”

Says Addington: “As Publishers Australia enters an exciting new phase in its history I’m looking forward to meeting with members and delivering enhanced services to them across the country.

“Connecting advertisers with audiences remains as true for B2B, specialist and custom publishers today as it has always been. While the delivery method is evolving, they are still best placed to provide quality content across print, digital and events to targeted communities than any other media. I want to ensure Publishers Australia is supporting members and advancing their interests across all aspects of business.”

General manager Matthew Green is leaving the association following a recent management restructure which saw publishing and events business Focal Attractions appointed as its management partner with a brief to grow the association’s events portfolio and raise its profile nationally.

Says Hird: “We thank Matthew for his contribution to Publishers Australia over the last two years. He stabilised revenue at a difficult time for the publishing industry and played a key role in developing the new management structure for the association going forward. We wish him well in his future endeavours.”

Says Green: “It’s been a pleasure working with the board and our members over the last two years. Organising the Magazine Week Conference and two Excellence Awards ceremonies has been a highlight of my career. I look forward to being part of this amazing industry for many years to come.”

Addington starts with Publishers Australia on July 14.
