Brisbane advertising community charity fundraising set to top quarter of a million dollars

BAD_TOTAL_2014.jpgThe BADC Charity Challenge began as an event to get together and give something back to the wider community. It involved forming teams and using the Bridge to Brisbane as a run-a-thon for the charity of each team or individual's choosing. The team that raised the most funds each year received the Ian Jensen Memorial Big Heart Trophy.
In 2013, the event was broadened to include all the other fundraising efforts industry members had contributed.

Says Garry Smith, BADC president: "It began as a once a year, bit of friendly competition for a good cause. But now we're endeavouring to recognise the wider generosity of our community right throughout the year and then bring it home with the Bridge to Brisbane fun run."
Since 2008, the Brisbane advertising and design community has raised a considerable $236,282.58.

Says Smith: "With 5 weeks to go, 2014 is already our best year yet. We've raised just under $60K so far and there's every chance we'll crack the quarter million dollar mark this year."
Says Rem Bruijn, BADC Charity Challenge co-ordinator: "Being involved in the charity challenge may be the thing you feel best about all year. It's massively rewarding to get out in the community and do something that makes a difference. If you are 'too busy' at work, then you may just need it the most. Even if you don't raise a lot of money, simply spreading the word about what you are doing makes a difference as well. It all counts."
All Brisbane advertising, design and associated industry companies are invited to participate.
