image009.jpgComposing music for hundreds of commercials for automotive brands such as AUDI, BMW, Cadillac, Ford, Lexus and Volvo, Nylon Studios composer Blair Joscelyne also spends his time under the hood and behind the camera of the world’s number one DIY car show, Mighty Car Mods.

This week Joscelyne’s hit YouTube series has launched a new five-part series, Lend Us A Ride, which documents his and co-host Marty Mulholland’s adventure to the Australian outback by borrowing cars from people they meet along the way.

image007.jpgConceived in late 2007, Mighty Car Mods, Australia’s number one online automotive channel, has since amassed over 100,000,000 views (100 million) and sees over 3,000,000 views per week in what is a rapidly growing, global fan base. They have filmed the series in Japan, USA, Canada, UK, Singapore and Hong Kong but now they have their eyes set on the Australian image012.jpgoutback.

In Lend Us A Ride, the Top Gear-meets-Wayne’s World larrikins convince strangers they meet on the road to let them borrow their vehicles during the extensive commute from Sydney to Uluru. The duo set out on country roads and the series captures their shenanigans as they search for wheels.

They encounter a variety of vehicles and attempt to use an electric car, drive a school bus and ‘bulk’ up a tiny red convertible with a bull bar and flood lights for its entry into a Broken Hill rally race that the boys wrangled themselves into.

Says Joscelyne: “It was a challenging and super exciting project to make. Producing the series gave us the chance to meet some great local characters and it will showcase the country in a whole new light to our international audiences.”

Mighty Car Mods developed the five-part series after winning a grant from the Skip Ahead program, a joint initiative by Screen Australia and YouTube. Production of original music by Joscelyne and Mulholland was recorded during their trip to the YouTube office in LA at the iconic East West Studios in Hollywood.

Episodes will be uploaded weekly to Mighty Car Mods YouTube page from today onwards.
